Message from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic)

We are committed to excellence in teaching - we recognise that students at UNSW expect a superb learning experience. The Learning and Teaching Performance Fund rewards universities for high quality teaching based upon surveys of graduates. Rankings across all disciplines for both 2007 and 2008 place UNSW in the elite top tier of Australian universities. Our Learning and Teaching Enhancement Plan for 2008-2010 will consolidate our position. The emphasis is on embedding graduate attributes within programs, on ensuring that each degree program is coherent and that the learning environment (both physical and e-learning) is optimal.

One key strategy is to help our staff to improve their teaching by providing high quality opportunities to develop their learning and teaching skills. Staff in Learning & Teaching @ UNSW also work closely with staff in schools and faculties to assist in curriculum development, program renewal and improvement, assessment and course evaluation. Good teaching is valued by staff and students. We will continue to make major investments to ensure that the quality of both the student and staff experience is high and that we provide the best possible environment for learning and teaching."
